Data Protection & Digital Security
Environmental Responsibility in Digital Infrastructure
At Helia Collaborative, security and safety are core organisational principles. This applies not only to the communities and partners we work with, but also to the way we manage data and digital infrastructure.
We are committed to protecting sensitive information, including personal data, donor information, financial records and partner communications. To uphold this commitment, we prioritise the use of Swiss-based technology providers and hosting services wherever possible. Our data is stored and processed on secure servers located in Switzerland or within jurisdictions that provide an equivalent level of legal protection.
We deliberately select providers that comply with Swiss data protection legislation, including the revised Federal Act on Data Protection, and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
Digital infrastructure carries an environmental footprint. Data storage, servers, and cloud services consume energy and generate emissions. As part of our broader commitment to responsible stewardship, we seek to work with providers that operate energy-efficient data centres and demonstrate credible environmental practices.
Our approach to digital security and environmental responsibility reflects our broader commitment to safeguarding, ethical practice, and long-term sustainability. Protecting data is part of protecting people. Managing our digital footprint responsibly is part of protecting the planet.
